The Northwest Energy Association says its looking at a number of possible ventures to generate more electricity in the region once the industry is deregulated.
The Association is a consortium of municipal hydro utilities across the region including Sioux Lookout, Atikokan and Kenora.
Larry Hebert is the Executive Director and says in addition to a couple of large generating projects, they also want to expand the electrical grid.
He adds they are hoping to pass a resolution which would exempt local Hydro Utilities from paying the stranded debt of Ontario Hydro.
Hebert says that debt is from the construction of nuclear power plants in Southern Ontario.
