Encouraging Test Scores for Public Board

The Keewaitin-Patricia District School Board is pleased with the recent results from standardized grade 3, 6 and 9 tests.
At the elementary level, students were tested on reading, writing and math, while grade 9 students only wrote math tests.
Director of Education Larry Hope says while they didn’t meet the provincial standard in any one area, they did see some improvement across the board.
Hope notes three of the six categories they were accessed in were either their best results to date or close to it.
The results show an increase of 6% in grade 3 math results compared to last year.
Hope says while there was a big improvement in maths, they saw a sizable gap between reading and writing test scores at the grade 3 level.
