The McGuinty Government has received an G in a Report Card released by
the Ontario Forestry Coalition.
President Jamie Lim says despite several promises, the Grits have
failed to do anything to lower the high cost of electricity that’s crippling
the forest industry and the Northern Ontario economy.
Energy prices are now about 65 to 70 dollars per megawatt hour and the
Coalition says the Government must enact a 15-dollar per megawatt hour
rebate to the sector while working on an inudstrial rate of 45-dollars.
Thunder Bay-Superior North Liberal MPP Michael Gravelle admits his
Government is not moving fast enough and is calling for a Regional energy
pricing scheme.
