Mayors and border officials in Canada and the United States plan to
hold another Summitt in the next couple of months.
Fort Frances Mayor Dan Onichuck represented the Northwestern Ontario
Municipal Association at last week’s meeting to discuss an American
regulation which would require a passport for anyone entering the United
States.
Onichuck says one of the possible alternatives being looked at is
putting a person’s nationality on their driver’s licence.
He notes if the issue isn’t resolved, it could have a huge impact
on the tourism industry in Northwestern Ontario.
