The Regional Vice-President of the Ontario Public Service Employees
Union is recommending members accept a new 4-year contract that was reached
over the weekend.
The tentative deal affects some 4,000 Government employees across
the Northwest.
John O’Brien believes it’s a fair agreement that includes a 9.75%
wage increase and addresses most of the contentious issues.
Information meetings will be held this week and members are expected
to vote on the deal during a 3-day period next week.
O’Brien stresses it was never their attention to stage another public
service strike.
