August 15th marks the start of the fall bear hunt and an Ignace-area
outfitter is asking the public to be aware when traveling in the bush.
Clifford Long says he’s seen an increase in nuisance bear reports and
notes this time of year is often a busy one.
Long says outdoor enthusiasts should be extra careful when out in the bush.
He recommends outdoor enthusiasts not wear black and be extra
attentive near blueberry bushes.
Long says there would be less stress on controlling the bear population
if the province would re-instate the spring hunt.
