Federal Funds To Establish Child Advocacy Centre

The Federal Government is spending more than $115,000 to support a Child Advocacy Centre in Sioux Lookout.
The announcement was made yesterday by Justice Minister Rob Nicholson.
Nicholson says the money will help the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority assess the feasibility of such a Centre.
Nicholson says the Centre will help young aboriginal victims of violence and sexual abuse.
He notes the Centre provides culturally sensitive counselling and services for those who have been abused or who have witnessed a crime.
Nicholson says the purpose is to ensure that children aren’t victimized again.
He notes these types of facilities are the wave of the future.
