Feds Involved In Skin Ailment Crisis

There’s still no indication what may have caused a mysterious skin ailment among children in the remote First Nation community of Kashechewan.

Liberal MP Patty Hajdu says public health authorities continue to work very closely with doctors who are examining the children so they can get the supports they need to heal quickly and to make sue it doesn’t happen again.

She notes the Health Minister is doing a great job ensuring the proper procedures and protocols are in place to help victims.

So far three children have been sent away for treatment and are said to be responding well.

Doctors flown into the reserve say they have identified dozens of children with skin conditions, but say it’s not a medical emergency.

They are expected to leave the community Thursday.
