The federal government has created a roadmap for the future of the forest industry.
The Kenora Declaration on Forest Innovation focuses on five key areas including reducing the environmental footprint, advancing new technology, commercializing new products, diversifying markets and working to integrate First Nations communities into the forest sector
Natural Resources Minister and Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the key is sustainability.
Rickford says the declaration focuses on collaboration, engagement, and mobilization.
He says Canada has over 160-million hectares of forest to manage.
