A specialist in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is giving high praise to the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
Dr. Gideon Koren from Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto is making his second visit to the region in as many years.
Koren says he’s excited by the public school board’s commitment to setting up specialized classrooms for students with FASD.
The Board offers the ‘Transition North’ program for students with FASD symptoms at Sioux Mountain in Sioux Lookout, Open Roads in Dryden and Keewatin Public School.
Koren says the program is one of a kind in Ontario.
He adds staff engagement is amazing and the Board should be complimented for its leadership.
