The Northwestern Health Unit is concerned about fewer numbers of health care workers getting flu shots.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield, Chief Medical Officer of Health, says having more staff members immunized must be a priority next flu season in order to protect residents and patients of hospitals and long-term care homes.
Sarsfield says more workers at long-term care homes have received flu shots this year compared to hospital workers.
Princess Court in Dryden and Northwood Lodge in Red Lake have achieved staff coverage of more than 80 percent.
Meantime, Sarsfield adds the percentage of staff members getting flu shots at hospitals varies from only 51 percent in Dryden to 75 percent in Atikokan.
