Financial Picture For Domtar

It was a great fourth quarter for Domtar.
The company is reporting $65-million in net earnings.
That’s up from third quarter earnings of $27-million.
It’s also well above last year’s fourth quarter numbers of $19-million.
Total sales during the fourth quarter were nearly $1.4-million.
Net earnings take into affect closures, restructuring costs and the sale of property.
The fourth quarter was a bright spot in other wise a difficult year.
Domtar saw its earnings drop by almost half from 2012.
Net earnings totalled $91-million compared to $172-million the year prior.
President and Chief Executive Officer John Williams says they have a strategy in place to boost numbers and stresses the execution of that plan will drive earnings and cash flow growth in 2014 and beyond.
The company expects paper shipments to be in-line with 2013 while the market demand for uncoated free sheet to decline.
Domtar is also anticipating softwood pulp markets to maintain positive momentum.
