Great news for Sioux Lookout area residents just in time for the Canada Day long weekend.
A Municipal Fire Ban will be lifted at noon today. (Thursday)
Fire Chief Rob Favot says recent rainfall combined with cooler temperatures has reduced the risk of wildfires.
However, Favot cautions that its still fairly dry and a fire ban could be reintroduced at any time.
The Municipality will be strictly enforcing its burning permit rules and anyone in violation could be fined up to $155 and may be liable for the full cost of extinguishing a fire.
