28 northern communities are getting some lessons in how to fight climate change.
It is part of the Grand Council Treaty #3, “Climate Action School Project”, which uses funding from the province to conduct workshops using traditional ecological knowledge.
Climate Change Specialist Christie Allen says it’s important to teach children ways of battling climate change while they are still young.
Allen stresses they will focus on waste management, reusing product, composting and biking to work or school.
Allen adds they will educate kids through school assemblies, classroom teachings and work with elders.
In total, the project is getting $200,000 in funding.
