While the situation isn’t even close to what British Columbia is dealing with, the forest fire season here at home has been a steady one.
The Ministry of Natural of Resources and Forestry is reporting a total of 647 fires this season, burning a total of just over 90,000 hectares.
That’s compared to 604 last year, with nearly 83,000 of land burned.
The 2017 numbers are still behind the ten year average for fires right now of 698 and roughly 104,000 hectares of land burned.
