The provincial Living Legacy Trust has approved funding for six programs totalling almost one million dollars in Northwestern Ontario.
Forest Employment Programs that recieved funding include Dryden, Fort Frances and Thunder Bay.
Karen Aquino, Executive Director of the Living Legacy Trust says the program will allow young people in the region to gain valuable skills which will help them find employment in the foresty sector.
The funding will allow students to participate in data collection, seed orchard maintenance, disease tree identification, efficient cutting methods, and worker safety.
The program will also see increased First Nation representation.
