Former Lac Seul Employee Charged With Fruad

A former employee with the Lac Seul Health Centre has been charged with criminal breach of trust and fraud over 5-thousand dollars.

This follows a May investigation launched by Lac Seul Police after the First Nation reported concerns with a substantial amount of fraudulent activities between 2019 and 2021.

The probe included support from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and its Deer Lake detachment.

Police say 54 year old Opal Minott-Smith of Sioux Lookout was arrested and will appear in court September 29.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact (807) 582-3802 or Crime Stoppers.
