Wiping away tears, a former SIJHL hockey player was sentenced to jail for his part in a post-game beating and robbery of an extremely drunk man.
Wednesday, Superior Court Justice John Wright gave 22-year-old Tyler Summerfield 15 months in jail, to be followed by 12 months of probation.
The former Fort William North Stars forward must also pay 1-thousand restitution to the man he robbed.
In the fall of 2006, after a hockey game in Marathon between the North Stars and the Renegades, Summerfield and some of his teammates found themselves at a party in Marathon.
Summerfield and others followed the victim as he left the party.
Wright called it stalking the victim and participated in a vicious assault that included the theft of the man‘s wedding ring and $80 from his wallet.
The victim was battered and bruised, lost a week of work and was in pain for three weeks.
