Red Lake’s Michele Alderton has received the 2017 North Western Ontario Francophone Personality Award.
The award, handed out every five years, recognizes a person who has excelled and made a remarkable contribution to the development of the Francophone community in the region.
Alderton created the a Francophone Association in Red Lake in 2014, and was instrumental in organizing a successful Winter carnival a year later.
In a media release, officials say Alderton has succeeded, through her commitment and collaborations, to make the Francophone community flourish in the Red Lake region, noting her contributions have touched the lives of many people.
