A new face at the helm of the Seven Generations Education Institute.
Brent Tookenay has taken over as executive director from Delbert Horton, who is retiring.
Tookenay says one of their challenges is ensuring employment opportunities for their graduates, before proposed mines in the region open.
He says there are a lot of issues facing aboriginal learners across the region.
The issues consist of where First Nation communities are located and whether aboriginals have taken the right courses to prepare themselves for opportunities.
Tookenay comes over to Seven Generations from the Rainy River District School Board, where he was the Aboriginal Education Leader.
He took on his new duties at the beginning of July.
