The first year of full-day, early learning kindergarten has been well received in the Keewatin-Patricia School District.
A total of 59-students are enrolled at Pinewood School in Dryden and Evergreen School in Kenora.
Director of Education Jack McMaster says the focus of instruction is on developing social skills.
McMaster notes the focus shifts at S-K to reading, writing and numeracy skills.
He adds half of their schools will have the program by the end of year three, with 3-classes in the new Dryden Elementary School, 3-classes at Lakewood School in Kenora, 2 at Sioux Mountain School and 1-class at Red Lake-Madsen Public School.
McMaster says they will also have the program up and running in Savant Lake, Sioux Narrows, Upsala and Pickle Lake next school year.
