Northwestern Ontario communities could benefit from funding announced by Prime Minister Paul Martin last week.
$700 million has been set aside for Aboriginal Health, including $100 million for training.
Tom Graham is a Spokesperson for the Canadian Union of Public Employees and say they have developed successful Health Care Training programs in a couple of Provinces and he things the program would work in this region.
Graham says they would like to see more aboriginal people in the Heath Care system to work in remote communities and he notes the initiative would help Northern communities retain much-needed Health Care professionals.
