The Trudeau government isn’t going to be able to keep its election promise on resettling 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year.
In detailing the proposal, the government says it will be spread out over a three month period with 10,000 being brought in by the end of December, and 15,000 by the end of February.
Immigration Minister John McCallum says they are taking their time in order to get everything right.
McCallum says there’s still some logistics that need to be worked out with participating communities.
