There’s going to be more access to services within Local Health Integration Networks in the Northwest.
The provincial government is providing 3.7 million dollars for community services such as assisted living services for seniors in Kenora and clients in Thunder Bay with a physical disability or brain injury.
CEO Laura Kokocinski says they wanted to target specific areas of concern with this funding announcement.
They include maintaining Home First, which will continue to move seniors from Kenora and Thunder Bay home from hospital.
In addition, there will be more hours for personal support workers, an expansion of telehomecare and a drug outreach program for pregnant and parenting moms in Thunder Bay, Kenora and Sioux Lookout.
The main goal is to keep healthier people at home, and free up hospital beds.
