Officials with Matawa First Nations aren’t saying much about the Ford government’s decision to drop Frank Iacobucci as Ontario’s lead negotiator in the Ring of Fire in northwestern Ontario.
In a statement, officials says it’s not their place to comment on the rationale behind the move to cut ties with the Liberal appointed Iacobucci.
They go on to say First Nations leadership was able to develop a positive relationship with Iacobucci during his time of service.
They add they look forward to working with Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford and Premier Doug Ford in the future.
