Group Of Area Hunters Fined

Seven hunters from Kenora and one from Red Lake have been fined for illegally killing moose.

The group was handed a $9,200 fine for hunting without a licence.

Court heard that back in December, Dennis Chevalier of Kenora organized a moose hunt on Alford Lake which is the boundary between Wildlife Management Units 2 and 3.

The party was licensed to shoot two adult moose in Unit 2, but both moose were killed in Unit 3.

Chevalier pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined $5,000, while the other seven men were all fined $600 each.
