Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton is calling on Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant to resign over the Big Trout Lake mining dispute.
Hampton says jail time for the 6-band members is an unfortunate decision that is a direct result of the McGuinty Government failing to consult with First Nations regarding mineral exploration on traditional land.
The NDP Leader says the community leaders are standing up for their rights and have been let down by the government.
Michael Bryant says he still wants to
resolve the long-standing mining dispute and notes he did his best to avoid jail time for the activists.
