Hampton on health tax 1

Don’t expect too much to be done with the health care tax.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says the Liberal government likely won’t be eliminating the levy, even though they promised no extra taxes.

The Ontario NDP leader says the health tax hits lower and middle income earners the hardest.

Hampton noted that a couple who makes about $40,000 a year has seen their provincial income tax increase by 24 percent.

But someone making high end wages would have an increase of about three percent.
