Harold Wallace Turner

Harold Wallace Turner, age 89, of Vermilion Bay, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Born in Windsor, Ontario to Albert and Leah Turner, he lived most of his life in Ontario – spending his last 25 years where he loved, in Quibell and Vermillion Bay.

Harold spent his early years fighting for his Country as an Able Seaman with the Merchant Navy in the Second World War. Harold’s passion was working hard as a contractor accumulating many certifications and qualifications to provide him with the expertise to be an electrician, plumber, gas fitter, steamfitter, and general contractor on all sizes of projects. Harold was involved with the Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of Canada as a District Commissioner and was President of the Royal Canadian Legion. He spent many hours reading, watching movies, working on his computer, putting together puzzles and played cribbage. Harold was always there with encouraging words and to lend a hand or provide advice on any construction or renovation project or whenever he was needed.

Harold was first married to Theresa O’Brien who gave him four daughters; his second wife Phyllis Hart gave him six children; and last to Sarah Summers.

Harold was most proud of his biggest accomplishment – his 10 children. Harold is survived by his daughters Jean (Louis) Paquette, Catherine (Jim) Brown, Patricia (Moe) Boismier, Linda (Andre) Gagnon, and Twyla (Stephen) Nicholson, and his sons Terry O’Farrell, Shayne Turner, Robert (Marla) Turner, Doug (Lori) Turner, and Chris Turner, and his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
