The Northwestern Health Unit is starting to collect dead birds for
testing of the West Nile Virus.
Environmental Health Officer Al Mathers says the season is just
underway.
The Health Unit has had several dead crows and ravens
sent in for testing.
Mathers says so far this year none have come back positive.
He adds despite the Northwest Region being at a low risk of West
Nile, area residents are urged to take precautions.
Mathers stresses to keep gutters and buckets free of pools of water.
