The Northwestern Health Unit says it’s not going to oppose the legalization of marijuana.
Instead, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young-Hoon says they are going to focus their attention on educating the public about pot use.
She says their main concern is marketing and ensuring that marijuana isn’t going to be readily available to youth.
Young-Hoon says they will be reaching out to local communities to see what they know about Cannabis.
She adds a focus group has been established to look at policies and future programming and education requirements.
Young-Hoon notes they want to make sure legalization is done in a controlled fashion,
