Highway 17 open again

The Trans-Canada Highway near the Manitoba border is open to two-way traffic once again after being closed to one lane for over six hours.

The O.P.P. say Highway 17 was closed near the Manitoba border around 7:30 last night after a semi-tractor trailor unit collided with a van.

One lane of the highway was opened around 9:30 last night, and traffic started moving on both lanes shortly after 2:00 this morning.

Police say the driver of the van was initially taken to Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, and was then airlifted to Winnipeg for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
