The idea of twinning Highway 17 throughout Northwestern Ontario has surfaced again.
Premier Ernie Eves made comments in Thunder Bay last week suggesting the province will twin the Trans-Canada Highway in the region.
Kenora-Rainy River MP Bob Nault says the federal government is more than willing to participate in any project involving improvement of infrastructure.
Nault says it is difficult to be competitive with the Americans who have the Interstate Highway Sytem in place.
He adds residents of Northwestern Ontario cannot continue to bump around on old roads.
