Hospital Board Happy With Their Work

The Board of Directors at the Dryden Regional Health Centre has looked in the mirror and members are happy with what they see.
The Board was one of eight in northern Ontario to take a self-assessment survey and encouraging results have come back.
They are at or above the level recorded at the other facilities.
Vice-Chair Bob Stevens says the results show a well-run hospital and a properly functioning board.
He adds it also shows a strong leadership team.
Stevens notes there’s still more work to be done, including planning for the future.
Stevens stresses succession planning is critical given the baby-boom generation is set to move on.
He notes the hospital will have to deal with several retirements and filling their positions.
Stevens says communication and meeting provincial standards are other challenges facing the Board.
Board members also felt they weren’t doing enough to oversee the development of the annual budget and financial plans for the hospital.
