Hospitals Can’t Expect Money in Stocking

Critics say Ontario residents will pay more for more health care and endure longer lineups if hospital budgets are frozen next year.
Health Minister Deb Matthews is warning hospitals to brace for a possible budget freeze as Ontario grapples with a $24.7-billion deficit.
The most hospitals can expect is an increase below last year’s
2.1% boost, which critics say has already forced hospitals
to cut services.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says a budget freeze amounts to a
service cut because hospitals won’t be able to meet rising costs.
