A deal has been reached at the Buchanan sawmill in Hudson.
260 employees will be brought back to work for the summer
months.
Steelworkers Union Local 26-93 President Joe Hanlon
says the survival plan will give laid off workers enough
hours to extend their employment insurance.
Workers voted in favour of the plan last week, that will
see their wages cut back 2 dollars an hour, in exchange for
the 525 hours of work.
The deal states employees won’t seek severance pay until
June 2009.
Hudson Mill will start up for three months starting in
June.
