The Dryden Ice Dogs and Superior International Junior Hockey League
marriage appears to be over for good.
Team President Andre Tardiff says they won’t be coming back to the
SIJHL next year, no matter what happens with their appeal to Hockey
Northwestern Ontario.
The Ice Dogs are waiting for permission to join the Manitoba Junior
Hockey League.
Tardiff says the organization is fed up with the lack of growth in
the League and notes their gate receipts are down $17,000 this year.
The club is meeting with its lawyer in the next few days and then
Hockey Northwestern Ontario will have 10-days to respond to the appeal.
Tardiff says if that goes no where, they plan to go to Hockey Canada
or the courts to challenge it as a human rights issue.
