Ice Dogs Staying Patient, Positive And Optimistic

For the first time since March the Dryden GM Ice Dogs are finally back on the ice.

A two week try-out camp started this week in Sioux Lookout, with the team scheduled to return to the Dryden Memorial Arena on the weekend to continue training and the developmental camp.

President Mike Sveinson says they are off to a great start.

“Very optimistic. We are just really hopeful that we can get as close to a normal season as possible because we are really pumped about the quality of the team that we got this year to start and the way things are looking.”

Sveinson stresses the team is focused on patience and flexibility on and off the ice right.

He says things change daily because of COVID-19 but the theme for the team is staying positive.

“The team has an opportunity to bring that semblance of normalcy back after such a long stretch for most people living and experiencing this pandemic.”

Sveinson says things are going good and the organization is anxious to bring Junior Hockey back to Dryden.

The Superior International Junior Hockey League has a tentative start date of November 14.
