Indigenous Communities Now Have A Share In Hydro One

First Nations in Ontario now own a share of Hydro One.

The deal with OFN Power Holdings, a partnership involving 129 First Nations, gives it a 2.4% share of the utility’s outstanding shares.

The agreement is worth $259-million and is being financed by the province through a 25-year loan.

This fulfills an agreement in principle signed in July 2016.

With the deal, the province will still own a 47% stake in Hydro One.
