Prescription meds are now free of charge for anyone in Ontario under the age of 24.
Over 4,000 medications listed in the Ontario Drug Benefit Program are covered, everything from epi-pens and asthma meds to antibiotics.
All you need is a valid prescription and an Ontario health card number and meds can be obtained free-of-charge from any pharmacy.
Health Minister, Dr. Eric Hoskins, says it won’t matter how much money you make, noting there’s no up-front payment or hidden costs.
He says Ontario is the first province in Canada to offer children and young adults free Pharmacare and he is hoping other provinces follow suit. Dr. Hoskins says this will make a real difference for families.
