NDP Leader Howard Hampton is calling on the Provincial
Government to create a new job protection commissioner.
The function of the post would be to protect major
industry workers from layoffs.
Hampton says he borrowed the idea from British Columbia,
who had a similar position for 10 years.

Hampton says his private member’s bill aims to stem a
wave of job losses in the Forest industry in Northern
Ontario.
The bill will be voted on during the late summer months,
or early fall.
