A private members bill aimed at creating a new job
protection commissioner was introduced yesterday in the
legislature.
NDP Leader Howard Hampton says his bill’s function would
protect factory workers from layoffs.

Hampton adds a commissioner would help negotiate deals
with banks, employees, and creditors for companies facing
hard times.
The bill will be voted on during the late summer months,
or early fall.
