After a long day Friday listening to several presentations from various Government & Industry officials, Delegates to the Kenora District Municipal Association meetings will wrap things up today with the election of a new President to take over from Dryden Councillor Bill Brown & decide where the 65th gathering will be held next February.
1 item to be dealt with 1st though is the drafting of a resoloution on how to get the point across to Queen’s Park that the downloading of services has already gone too far & is costing local governments too much.
Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls Mayor Jerry O’Rilley encouraged those in attendance Friday to take part in some sort of Civil Disobedience to make their concerns heard but many felt that may not be the right way to go.
There is some thought that a threat to sue the Province over the issue might get more attention & open some eyes to the damage being done to municipal budgets, especially in smaller towns across the North.
