Residents of Keewaywin First Nation in the far north are now back home after having sought refuge in Sioux Lookout for 8 days.
MNR officials determined it was safe for everyone to return after a forest fire had threatened the native community.
Keewaywin Deputy Chief Joe Meekis praised the municipality and its people for their fine hospitality.
Sioux Lookout Mayor John MacDonald saluted the efforts of all community volunteers who helped make the people of Keewaywin feel secure and welcome.
The municipality expects to lift its state of emergency this weekend.
