After years of work, the Umfreville Trail in Sioux Lookout is finally ready for its grand opening on August 2nd.
The 3.6-kilometre trail begins near the Forest Inn and ends at Frog Rapids Bridge and is geared towards walkers, bikers, rollerbladers and cross-country skiers.
Trail Committee Chair Doug Switzer says the trail is named after Edward Umfreville who passed through Sioux Lookout in the late 1700s and discovered a canoe route through Northwestern Ontario.
The 340-thousand dollar project received funding from the provincial and federal governments.
