Kenora MP Greg Rickford is addressing some rumours floating around about the Experimental Lakes Area.
Rickford says the talk is that demolition work is taking place.
He notes that is completely false.
Rickford says minor work is being conducted on some of the buildings and some buildings are receiving routine maintenance.
Rickford adds the Coalition to Save the ELA stated that the remediation costs would be around $50-million, when it’s actually a lot less.
He says the actual cost is between $1-million and $8-million.
Rickford says the final cost reflects the pending negotiations and discussions between the government and the potential third party that will take over the research facility west of Vermilion Bay.
