Kenora MP Responds to Forestry Protests

Conservative Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the Federal Government has not turned its back on forestry workers.
Rickford is responding to demonstrations across the Country Tuesday, including Dryden.
Rickford says the Conservatives have allowed Forest Company’s to expand their market by investing in research and value-added initiatives.
He adds the Government has helped re-train laid-off workers and have made changes to allow employees up to 2-years of training, while collecting unemployment insurance benefits.
Rickford notes the Feds have provided $200-billion to help Forest Company’s weather these difficult times, $1-billion for the Community Adjustment Fund and $170-million to expand markets for Canadian products.
