Kenora NDP Nomination Now A Two Person Race

It’s not going to be a coronation for Howard Hampton if he wants to become the NDP candidate in the Kenora Riding in the next federal election.

Kenora resident Pete Edwards has confirmed plans to challenge Hampton for the nomination.

Edwards says he’s not intimidated by the former Ontario NDP leader’s resume.

Edwards was the former manager of Lake of the Woods Hotel and is now employed by the Kenora Association For Community Living.

He notes he’s been planning to run for the NDP for a couple of years.

Edwards admits he hasn’t sold a lot of memberships, but stresses he’s ready to hit the ground running.

He says he’s new to politics but brings a fresh and different view to the table.

Edwards notes he doesn’t have any “political baggage” and is looking out for everybody in the riding.

He wants to focus on helping the middle class and families and addressing affordable housing shortages.
