The Dryden GM Ice Dogs and the Kiwanis Club have teamed up to raise funds for a new team bus.
Ice Dogs Executive member Derek Ouellette stresses the new coach is not just for the junior hockey team, but for use by all user groups and schools in the area.
Ouellette says the two organizations have a shared vision of community and kids being safe and being given the opportunity to succeed.
He notes kids take pride and are happy to call Dryden home when they travel safely in comfort.
It’s anticipated that a new bus will be required in the next year or two.
The fundraising campaign will be launched Canada Day at festivities at the Kiwanis Club House near Government Dock.
From 11:00am to 1pm, you will have the chance to have your picture taken with the Bill Salonen Cup.
Ice Dogs Coach Kurt Walsten will join local players Trevor Kavanaugh, Graham Oliphant and Trey Palermo at the public event.
Kiwanis member Suzanne Joly-Cesiunas says this will be just the beginning as other activities will soon be announced and corporate packages will be distributed.
