The English River Miners proved Sunday that they are ready to put up a fight in the SIJHL playoffs.
The Miners battled back from a 4-1 deficit against the top team in the league, falling just short in a 5-4 overtime loss in Fort Frances.
Braeden Pierce, Alex Maticic, Mike Norris and Brandon Schaber sparked the comeback.
Dylan Robertson scored the winning goal in overtime for Fort Frances.
The Lakers outshot the Miners 46-33, with Korlan Vader picking up the loss.
Elsewhere, the Thunder Bay North Stars beat the Minnesota Iron Rangers 7-4.
The Iron Rangers were coming off a pair of wins against Dryden GM; 4-3 and 5-3.
